Coinciding with the beginning of Holy Week it is both timely and appropriate to feature a performance of one of Bach's most well known liturgical choral works, the St John Passion. This will be the first performance of a revised edition of the St John Passion translated by Lyndon van der Pump and newly published by Peters Edition. Van der Pump's translation of the 'St Matthew Passion' was highly acclaimed in a recent performance at St John's Smith Square for its sensitive narrational qualities.
Conductor Julian Williamson has been associated with a large number of orchestras and choirs over more than thirty-five years. He has performed regularly on the South Bank, at St John's, Smith Square and the Barbican Hall where, apart from his many concerts with the Camden Choir, he has appeared with the London Bach Orchestra and the English Festival Chorus.
